Pennies for Pasta, Coins for Cancer Research
Fourth Grade Youth Making a Difference Project
Our Fourth Grade students enjoyed an Olive Garden lunch because
of their work collecting and counting coins for the Leukema and Lympoma Society.
Our third grade students collected toiletries for our Veterans earlier this year.
Third and fourth grade students are invited to attend the
Youth Making a Difference celebration
on April 25, 2019, at 6:00 PM at Churchill High School.
All LPS students who have participated in a YMAD project will be honored.

Please pay off Negative Lunch Balances.
Our cook, Mrs. Jed, will send home an envelope
with the balance for your convenience.
Thank you for your diligence.

MSTEP Testing for 3rd and 4th Graders
The Michigan Department of Education continues to require the
Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress (M-STEP) for our
3rd and 4th graders. For more information, please refer to this link
from the Michigan Department of Education:
2018-19 Guide to State Assessments.

For sample test items, go to: https://wbte.drcedirect.com/MI/portals/mi
and hit "Online Tools Training" under the M-Step icon.
Then click "Sample Item Sets" and then your child's grade level.

For more parent information, go the MDE website and
scroll down to the "Parent/Student Information" section:
You will find many parent resources on their site.

Lastly, our teachers allow MINT gum or mints the days of testing.
"The natural sedative or antispasmodic nature of menthol helps you get instant relief from mental stress... allowing you to unwind and relax and letting your stress melt away."
(Please NO bubble gum, only mint gum!)
We also ask that you avoid scheduling appointments, etc.
Your child's regular attendance will ensure that the testing
is uninterrupted.

LPS's Annual Education Report is available
on our website. Go to the "Quick Links" section
at the bottom of the page, and click on

For those of you celebrating Easter, I wish you
a Happy Easter with family and friends.
Please enjoy your three-day weekend!
