Virtual STEM Summer Program: Camp Invention

Wayne RESA and the Wayne Regional STEM Network (MiSTEM) are sponsoring a virtual STEM summer program for Wayne County students in grades K-6. The camp is called Camp Invention and begins on Monday, July 12, 2021 and ends on Friday, July 16, 2021. It will run online from 9:00 am-3:00 pm each day. All interested participants must have have connectivity (access to the internet) and a device.

The cost for this at-home camp is ordinarily over $200 per student, but MiSTEM is covering all of the cost except for a $20 fee per student to be paid at the time of registration.

After registration, students will be sent a kit of materials needed to complete all of the hands-on activities for the week.

Information about Camp Invention

Throughout the week, students will fuel their imagination with innovative and FUN hands-on STEM experiences that have been delivered right to their doorstep! The 2021 program lineup is below:

CONFIDENCE

Campers find their own unique voice and discover sound waves in action through reverse engineering, then market their extraordinary inventions with friends as creative entrepreneurs.

PERSISTENCE

In this high-energy adventure, kids build and test a launching device to overcome challenges while exploring fun physics concepts like trajectory and velocity.

CREATIVITY

Kids experiment with circuits and energy to create a robotic, solar-powered cricket inspired by biomimicry, then use empathy and creative problem solving to build fun-filled custom habitats.

PROBLEM SOLVING

Children learn how to adapt as they design and prototype a nature-inspired morphing vehicle to submerge, soar or sprint in Super Road Rally!
