A simple greeting is all it takes to help someone's day start off right.
As I stand in the lobby greeting our students, I typically receive
responses from SOME of our students, but not all.
This is a social skill that parents need to teach their children.
Practice at home, and talk to your children about polite, appropriate responses.
Make someone's day!

MStep is coming for Third/Fourth Graders
Starting April 30, our third and fourth graders will be participating in the
Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress (MStep),
The Michigan Department of Education has several resources for parents
to help prepare your student for this experience.
We ask that your child be well-rested and enjoy nutritious breakfasts, especially on
testing days. We also ask that your child's appointments
be scheduled as to not interfere with testing days,
if at all possible. Good attendance is important all year long!

Mathematical Practices
Each grade level has it's own math curriculum including skills to be taught
at that grade level. However, in each of the classrooms, math is taught with
these 8 practices as a framework....

Field Trip Chaperones
We have many field trips coming up, which means many of our
awesome family members will be chaperoning.
ALL school volunteers must have an iChat form turned in
well in advance of the trip, or any other volunteer opportunity.
This can only be done online,
and it must be renewed EVERY YEAR!

Earth Day Activites
Earth Day is Sunday, April 22.
This year at Rosedale we will be celebrating two ways.
First, Monday will be an
Earth Day Pick Up Day!
Our students will be outside helping to clean up our grounds.
Secondly, our PTA is sponsoring a
Can and Bottle Drive
next week. Please help support our efforts
by sending in your donations of cans and bottles.
Much appreciated!
iReady at Home
If your child has an iReady Reading or Math license
please support his/her learning by setting aside time EACH DAY
for them to practice their skills.
This support is valuable, and can make a difference,
only with consistent use. Ideally, students should work for 20-30 minutes a day.
Make it a part of their homework routine,
and thank you for your partnership!
Feeding Your Brain!
Please make sure your child has a good, nutritious breakfast
and a fresh water bottle every day.
Children need good nutrition and hydration to have a good day!

Madonna Summer Literacy Program
Are you looking for a summer program to help
improve your child's reading ability?
Madonna University works in partnership with
Livonia Public Schools to offer a summer opportunity.
The program runs from July 12-August 2, Mon-Thurs,
Entering Grade 1: 8:00-10:00
Entering Grade 2: 10:30-12:30
Location: Hoover Elementary
Fee: $60.00
Parents must provide transportation.
*If you're interested in this opportunity,
brochures are offered in our lobby.
