Needed: A Parent Volunteer to Coordinate
After-School Spanish Club
Rosedale has been very fortunate to host an After-School Spanish Club,
once a month, with Churchill High School Spanish National Honor Society students
teaching our Rosedale students.
We are in need of a parent volunteer that would be able to
communicate with the CHS coordinator, create/send home registration forms
once a month, and be available those afternoons when the group meets.
There are 7 sessions planned for this year.
The parent who coordinated this program past years will make
herself available to get you started.
If you are interested, please call Mrs. Sutton or Mrs. Kohler at 734-744-2800.

November Character Trait:
RESPECT
This month we will talk about the golden rule:
Treat others the way you'd like to be treated.

From The Music Room…
I can’t believe we are into November! There are Holiday songs being practiced. Djembe drums being struck, and lots of musical facts and influences being shared.
We started off the year with fast and slow in music. Transferred to bucket drums. Next we went through types of vocal timbre (high and low). Late September brought Call and Response songs as well as some silly songs (always good to get children singing!). In October we worked on Body Percussion, Simple rhythms and the orchestral composition of “Into the Hall of the Mountain King” (Grieg), as well as “Danse Macabre” (Camille Saint Saens) with the two older grades. Orchestral pieces are so much easier to follow when there is a listening map – so we have used several of those to help recognize instruments, parts, and themes within the music. In late October, we began rhythms with quarter notes and eighth notes. (Ask your child to clap TA  TA  TI-TI  TA). We have even done a little composing with those patterns. Fourth grade has been working on passing objects to the beat and accompanying that beat with Djembe drumming patterns.
What is coming up?
·         For 4th grade we have a recorder unit. I am waiting for recorder books to come back from the warehouse printing. More information to come….
·         2nd and 3rd grades will be singing in a Holiday Concert on December 18. This will be an evening event.
·         1st and 4th grades will be performing in a concert on March 18. This will be an evening event.
·         Kindergarten will be doing a daytime concert as part of their celebration in June.
Thank you so much for your support, it is so wonderful to be back at Rosedale!
Our PTA is need of a CANS and BOTTLES
chairperson. Your responsibilities would include
picking up the donated cans/bottles from school,
returning them to a grocery store,
then bringing the money back to school.
If anyone is interested in this job,
please contact Judy at 734-634-3146.
This is an easy money-maker for our PTA,
which translates into more activities for our students.
Thank you!

Stay warm this weekend,
Mrs. Kohler
